Hogle Zoo 2007

Mo spent the weekend in St. George on a long deserved girls trip, so the boys and I spent one day at the zoo while she was away. Hogle Zoo has made many improvements over the past couple of years. The “Asian Highlands” tiger habitat being the most recent, and the elephant and rhinoceros homes rebuilt just before that. They are great San Diego Zoo type habitats. Hogle Zoo also does a great bird show with eagles, hawks, owls, parrots, and ravens swooping, diving, talking, and “stealing” the show. It is fantastic, the best part of the day.

Mo’s Birthday 2007

As a surprise for Mo’s 30th birthday I repainted the wainscot of our master bedroom with the Ralph Lauren river rock paint, and purchased the quilt and bedding Mo had her eye on at the Village Quilt Shop (Thanks Peggy). Check out the picture below. You can “click” on the picture to view a larger image. The bed in the picture is the bed I built for Mo for her 26th birthday. Love you Babe, I’m looking forward to the next 30!

Echo Triathlon 2007

Monique and I have competed in a couple triathlons since the summer started. The first was the Utah Summer Games (USG) on June 16th. The USG is part of the Trifecta series in St. George, so we are familiar with the course. We had a great time, and both improved our times over the Kokopelli triathlon held on the same course last fall. It’s a bugger of a bike ride. Last Saturday (July 14) was the Xango Echo triathlon at Echo reservoir. It is an excellent event, well organized and very popular. There were almost 1000 athletes participating this year! It is a great course, and Mo and I both improved our personal best times. Next up for Mo is a tri held at one of our local rec centers, and I am competing in the highest elevation tri in the U.S.A. at Scofield reservoir on August 11. Then both of us are competing again in the Kokopelli in September.

Jenny Nicholl

Well everyone,

It’s two years today that Jenny left home and never returned. Over the last 2 weeks, Ann and I have been putting up some new posters in and around Richmond. Despite the recent development with the arrest and charge, we know we still have difficult days ahead and we felt we needed to keep the profile high, that Jenny has still not been found.
To that end, we designed about 4 new posters based on that theme, rather than appealing for information to back up the charge. The posters have one of 2 phrases printed on them as follows:

a. Two Years on and I’m Still Gone. Does Anyone Know Where I Am?

b. Two Years and Too Many Tears. Does Anyone Know Where I Am?

These words are printed on various watermarked backgrounds, including a full page colour photo of Jenny, and an Audio Angel (full size and smaller multiples), and a black and white still from a video of Jen playing in the band. All have details of the blog and CrimeStoppers at the bottom. The Audio Angel is a silhouette of a girl with wings and a guitar and it appears in all the posters, either as a large grey background watermark, or a small black & white image.
The Northern Echo has printed an article today and we have also placed a memorial in the North Yorkshire News which shows a picture of Jenny flanked with 2 animation’s of little guitars. It reads:

“Unseen, unheard, you are always near, yet we don’t know where you are? So missed, so loved, so very dear. Loved and remembered by Mum & Dad, your brothers and all the family”.

Jenny’ Tree

This is a copy of what was recently posted at Jenny’s Blog.

We would like to start this Spring Update with a ‘Thank You’ to everyone who has kept us and of course Jenny, in their thoughts and prayers. We are grateful for the kind words that people say to us and for all the posts here on this Blog…

Tree Planted

In March we had a tree planted for Jenny and a plaque placed on a small post at the bottom. It is a Dawn Redwood, which is a deciduous conifer and is fast growing. Although it is a conifer, because it is deciduous, it sheds it’s needles each autumn. Before it does, it looks very beautiful as it changes through several colours from green to a reddish golden brown and gold. The trunk of the tree will in time, be covered in a beautiful red soft bark. Jenny’s tree is just starting to bud, so it looks a bit bare at the moment compared to others, but it will soon take off! We don’t want to advertise to the wider world exactly where the tree is just yet, but anyone who wants to visit, just call us or email and we will give you directions. The park wardens, who arranged everything and planted the tree for us, have been great and they have taken a personal interest in it.

The Investigation

We know it has been a while since we have updated this site or sent out an update email and a lot of you have been asking what is happening. The investigation is very much “still on the go” though (frustratingly) for obvious reasons, we are not able to go into any detail in this forum. We are sure however, that you will all take some comfort in knowing that it has not gone away or been closed down……. far from it!

Fingers crossed,

Brian & Ann.

Ann & Chris

I had so much fun meeting Chris and spending time with both he and Ann. The wedding was a blast and the resort was awesome. Thank you to Alex and Bronlyn for the great party. We are saving our pennies to hopefully go to England in 08′ for James’ wedding. We love you Ann and Chris and our thoughts and prayers are always with your families and Jenny.

Love,
Monique and Family

Thanks From Ann

Just wanted to say thank you all so very much for the wonderful time that the Janke family gave me and cousin Chris these past ten days. Love to each and everyone of you. XX

2006 Kokopelli Triathlon

Both Mo and I competed so neither of us were free to take photographs of the event. Luckily there was a professional photographer at the race taking pictures of every racer. What a great race! Kokopelli is the third part of the Trifecta series in St. George, Utah. It was held on September 23rd 2006. Sand Hollow resevoir was fantastic to swim in. The water was almost cold enough for mandatory wetsuits, but right at race time the water temperature crept up to 65 degrees and allowed racers the choice. Although I think you would have to be crazy not to wear a wetsuit. Wetsuits are a huge advantage. They increase floatation, decrease drag, and keep you warm. You can swim faster more comfortably without working as hard, why wouldn’t you want to wear one? The water in the resevoir was crystal clear, I could see all the way to the bottom, It was a great swim! The bike portion in the TRI, which is the same for the St. George Tri and the Utah Summer Games Tri, sucks! The sprint distance is 14 miles, from the transition area there is a 2 to 3% false flat for approximately three and a half miles. Then there is a hill that is a mile long with a 10% grade lovingly called the Beast. Then you continue the false flats for an additional two and a half miles to the turning point. You then get to turn around and and ride down what you rode up. Fun, right? Wrong. This area is not called Hurricane for nothing. You fight a head wind all the way home. The run portion is 3.2 miles of the bike route. A out and back type of route from the transition area. This was painful for me, as you can see from the picture, because I am running downhill at the end. This is a great triathlon, Mo and I are registered for the Utah Summer Games Tri, and have plans to compete in the St. George and Kokopelli Triathlons. All three make up the St. George Trifecta.

Bronlyn & Alex Married!

Rub a dub dub; thanks for the grub; yeah God! Bronlyn & Alex are married! They had the family down to the J.W. Marriott resort in Las Vegas, and were married on Saint Patrick’s Day! The ceremony was held outside in the great gardens of the Marriott resort; the weather was perfect. What a fun party, congratulations Bronlyn & Alex!

May today there be peace within.
May you trust God that you are exactly where you are meant to be.
May you not forget the infinite possibilities that are born of faith.
May you use those gifts that you have received, and pass on the love that has been given to you.
May you be content knowing your are a child of God.
Let His presence settle into your bones, and allow your soul the freedom to sing, dance, praise, and love.
