Jenny’ Tree

This is a copy of what was recently posted at Jenny’s Blog.

We would like to start this Spring Update with a ‘Thank You’ to everyone who has kept us and of course Jenny, in their thoughts and prayers. We are grateful for the kind words that people say to us and for all the posts here on this Blog…

Tree Planted

In March we had a tree planted for Jenny and a plaque placed on a small post at the bottom. It is a Dawn Redwood, which is a deciduous conifer and is fast growing. Although it is a conifer, because it is deciduous, it sheds it’s needles each autumn. Before it does, it looks very beautiful as it changes through several colours from green to a reddish golden brown and gold. The trunk of the tree will in time, be covered in a beautiful red soft bark. Jenny’s tree is just starting to bud, so it looks a bit bare at the moment compared to others, but it will soon take off! We don’t want to advertise to the wider world exactly where the tree is just yet, but anyone who wants to visit, just call us or email and we will give you directions. The park wardens, who arranged everything and planted the tree for us, have been great and they have taken a personal interest in it.

The Investigation

We know it has been a while since we have updated this site or sent out an update email and a lot of you have been asking what is happening. The investigation is very much “still on the go” though (frustratingly) for obvious reasons, we are not able to go into any detail in this forum. We are sure however, that you will all take some comfort in knowing that it has not gone away or been closed down……. far from it!

Fingers crossed,

Brian & Ann.

Ann & Chris

I had so much fun meeting Chris and spending time with both he and Ann. The wedding was a blast and the resort was awesome. Thank you to Alex and Bronlyn for the great party. We are saving our pennies to hopefully go to England in 08′ for James’ wedding. We love you Ann and Chris and our thoughts and prayers are always with your families and Jenny.

Love,
Monique and Family

Thanks From Ann

Just wanted to say thank you all so very much for the wonderful time that the Janke family gave me and cousin Chris these past ten days. Love to each and everyone of you. XX

2006 Kokopelli Triathlon

Both Mo and I competed so neither of us were free to take photographs of the event. Luckily there was a professional photographer at the race taking pictures of every racer. What a great race! Kokopelli is the third part of the Trifecta series in St. George, Utah. It was held on September 23rd 2006. Sand Hollow resevoir was fantastic to swim in. The water was almost cold enough for mandatory wetsuits, but right at race time the water temperature crept up to 65 degrees and allowed racers the choice. Although I think you would have to be crazy not to wear a wetsuit. Wetsuits are a huge advantage. They increase floatation, decrease drag, and keep you warm. You can swim faster more comfortably without working as hard, why wouldn’t you want to wear one? The water in the resevoir was crystal clear, I could see all the way to the bottom, It was a great swim! The bike portion in the TRI, which is the same for the St. George Tri and the Utah Summer Games Tri, sucks! The sprint distance is 14 miles, from the transition area there is a 2 to 3% false flat for approximately three and a half miles. Then there is a hill that is a mile long with a 10% grade lovingly called the Beast. Then you continue the false flats for an additional two and a half miles to the turning point. You then get to turn around and and ride down what you rode up. Fun, right? Wrong. This area is not called Hurricane for nothing. You fight a head wind all the way home. The run portion is 3.2 miles of the bike route. A out and back type of route from the transition area. This was painful for me, as you can see from the picture, because I am running downhill at the end. This is a great triathlon, Mo and I are registered for the Utah Summer Games Tri, and have plans to compete in the St. George and Kokopelli Triathlons. All three make up the St. George Trifecta.

Bronlyn & Alex Married!

Rub a dub dub; thanks for the grub; yeah God! Bronlyn & Alex are married! They had the family down to the J.W. Marriott resort in Las Vegas, and were married on Saint Patrick’s Day! The ceremony was held outside in the great gardens of the Marriott resort; the weather was perfect. What a fun party, congratulations Bronlyn & Alex!

May today there be peace within.
May you trust God that you are exactly where you are meant to be.
May you not forget the infinite possibilities that are born of faith.
May you use those gifts that you have received, and pass on the love that has been given to you.
May you be content knowing your are a child of God.
Let His presence settle into your bones, and allow your soul the freedom to sing, dance, praise, and love.

Utah Summer Games

Jaren and I will be competing in the Utah Summer Games Triathlon in June and would like all of you to come see us compete in St. George! It is the weekend of June 16th. I will submit more details as I get them. We want to see all of you competing next year!

Storm Trooper

I can finally fulfill my dreams of becoming a Storm Trooper! There is an actual garrison of troopers, and other Star Wars characters called the 501st Legion. They are the troops that marched in this years Rose Parade with George Lucas. Anybody can join the ranks, you can even choose your character, you just have to own a professional grade uniform and a desire to “live” the world of Star Wars. My prayers have been answered!

Cabinet Project

I have finished and installed the cabinet project I was working on when I cut my hand while using the router table. They are maple cabinets with a white formica counter top and a maple edge. The cabinets were built for and installed in a utility/mud room to provide additional storage and a work space for a sewing machine.

Jenny Nicholl

jenny On June 30, 2005 a cherished part of our family was taken from us. Jenny Nicholl has been missing for almost 18 months, we pray and hope daily that news or information about her will come forward. The following is the Christmas update from her blog

To keep Jenny’s profile up over Xmas, boxes of small candles (tea-lights) have been placed in various shops in Richmond, inviting people to take one and light it for Jenny over Xmas. Over 1000 have been distributed so far and they are proving to be very popular as some of the outlets have been asking for more! The candles have been wrapped in clear cellophane with pink hearts and tied with ribbon. Attached to the candle is a small business card with a little poem on one side and Jenny’s picture on the other, along with the blogspot details and asking people to light a candle for Jenny. We are so so grateful to a ‘posse’ of friends who have gathered together on a number of occasions to make these little gifts and distribute them. (One in particular, who has taken the lead and I won’t name that person here…..but we are so indebted to you for arranging this). Also on the Xmas tree in the Co-Op where Jenny worked, mock presents have been hung, which have photographs of Jenny on the front of them. Some posters have also been refreshed, with different wording on them, to bring the point home, that Jenny has still not been found. Before Christmas, larger candles will be placed in about 3 of the pubs that Jenny played pool in. These have little miniature posters on 3 sides of each of them, with photo’s and little statements. Don’t forget to light a candle yourselves for Jenny over Xmas, keep your fingers crossed and pray that soon, we will get something substantial and positive, as soon as possible in the New Year.
